I am from an old Wizarding family. Yes I am related to those Blacks but we are descended from the one Wizard in the family who went to the new world and altered the name to get "a fresh start". Wanting to get away from something. I'd like to think it was the purebloodist in the family. All Blaques come back to Hogwarts to be educated. I'm not proud of the fact I had family that fought with Voldemort but I am proud I had family (myself included) that fought against him. Slytherin does not equal Death Eater.
I began my studies with Hogwarts years ago and had nearly completely my first year when a muggle computer glitch wiped out all of my records (as well as all records at that time). I was one Defense Against the Dark Arts final away from moving on to my second year. Few of our records were retrieved. Even magic could not help bring back my grades. I was so disheartened I decided to take a break for a little while. That little while turned into years. It became a shame for me and my family. So I have returned, an older student to finish what I started years ago. I am determined to see this through.
