🎉 Countdown to Hogwarts 2025! 🎉

The Caretaker huffs as the castle hall floors again begin to meet feet: the majority of Hogwarts staff has now returned to organise and prepare for the start of the school year. It is an exciting time - and not just for the school-aged of wizardkind. The portraits adjust their backdrops and props (and complain about still not having been dusted). Castle cats twitch their tails, ready for the random treats the students might bring. Even faraway shopkeepers in Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley are rushing to stock their shelves and sweep their floors.

The students are finally returning to Hogwarts, and it is sure to be an eventful year! So, let’s kick it off with an event, shall we?

Setting the Scene
It’s summertime, and you have already received a letter, via owl, inviting you to a new year at Hogwarts. Ah, wasn’t Headmistress Oshiro just talking about the “chaotic flap of wings” in the owlery? In the days leading up to September 1st, you will have plenty of things to do, from dreaming of Hogwarts to studying for upcoming classes to shopping for all you’ll need (and want).

How It Works
This event will take place entirely on our HiH Discord server, in the “Room of Requirement”, which will appear and open its doors for you on the first day of the event. 

For this event, we will have one activity for each day leading up to September 1st. We will start our Countdown with Day 10, on August 22nd, and the last activity will be posted on Day 1, on August 31st. Each activity will offer an easier half-points option and a full-points option if you’re up for something a bit extra. Each day’s activity submission will be due 3 days after the posting date, at 7 PM ET. No further submissions will be allowed after this point.

You are free to come and go from the event as you please, completing any activities that seem interesting to you and skipping any that do not. After you complete your first activity and it is scored, you will see your name listed on the Countdown Event Scoresheet. If you choose to participate in this event, you will want to keep this Scoresheet handy to track your progress.

Roleplay
Roleplay is encouraged during this event! Feel free to post personal roleplays on your wall or in HiH groups with your friends. Once the event begins, there will be an event chat opened in the “Room of Requirement” on Discord in which you may participate in roleplay as well.

Regardless of your on-site year, feel free to roleplay your character however you’d like, whether you’re coming to Hogwarts for the first time or returning as an experienced student. Each activity will have a roleplay description that is just for fun and can be imaginatively adjusted however you’d like for your own individual experience.

Is There a Reward?
This is not a competition, and the main purpose is to have fun and give students something to interact with outside of classes. However, we do want to reward our students for participating in this event and having fun with us. Therefore, at the end of the event, all students will receive Discordian points in an amount equal to the event points they earned throughout the event. In addition, any student who participates in ALL activities (either for half points or full points) will be awarded with a special Discord role: “Countdown to Hogwarts 2025 - Completionist”.
