Planning a trip in or out of Heathrow Airport any time soon? If so, you’re in luck!
As of November 16th this year, London Heathrow’s Terminal 5 has opened up its own Harry Potter shop, stocking merchandise from not only the original Harry Potter series but also from the recent developments in the Harry Potter fandom; “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” and “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them”. In its 600 square metre room, the shop stocks over 200 items, many of which can be found only at Heathrow. You can even grab yourself a life-sized doll of Dobby the house elf, if you so wish!
Speaking at the shop’s opening, which was made to coincide with the release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them, Heathrow’s Commercial Director Jonathan Coen said;
“We are really pleased to welcome the new Harry Potter Shop to Terminal 5. Harry Potter is loved across the globe and what better place to enjoy gift and souvenirs from the Wizarding World before our passengers fly to the other side of the world. We hope our customers enjoy everything the new store has to offer as they take a little magic with them.”
Already the shop has welcomed thousands of excited travellers through its doors, allowing them to browse and purchase a whole new range of Potter-related merchandise, from clothes to keyrings to books and much, much more. With the vast number of people who travel through Heathrow Terminal 5 on a daily basis, it is expected that the new Harry Potter Shop will be visited by over 16 million passengers yearly.
So, if you are in Heathrow any time soon, the shop is open 7 days a week from 5:30am - 10pm, and so you’ll be unlikely to miss it. It’s the perfect place to pick up merchandise for yourself and purchase gifts for all of your Potterhead friends - just make sure you factor extra time into your journey to account for the no doubt lengthy amount of time you’ll be spending in there!
