[ARCHIVED] Daniel Radcliffe attacks Eddie Redmayne’s Wand!

Speaking to Pottermore back in July, Eddie Redmayne said that “the most exciting moment of [acting in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them] is the moment of getting a wand.” And that’s not hard for us to imagine, is it? Picture yourself being presented with a table full of beautiful sketches of wands by a talented art department, and being told that you can choose any one of them. Pretty exciting stuff, that’s for sure.
And it’s only natural that after being able to choose this wand, call it his own and use it throughout the whole filming of Fantastic Beasts, Eddie has become rather attached to it - I think we all would. Daniel Radcliffe, however, seems to have different ideas.
In a video released by Magic Radio on November 7th, Dan was presented with Eddie’s wand and asked for his opinion on it. He tried to be polite at first, commenting that it was “a little bit… smoother” than his own wand that he used when filming Harry Potter. He then moved on to comment on the wand’s mother of pearl end, saying “I don’t know what I feel about this silver bit at the end,” and agreeing with the interviewer that it looked “a bit flashy.” By the end of the interview, Radcliffe was holding nothing in, remarking; “what is this - IKEA?!”
As you might imagine, Eddie was pretty upset to hear this news, saying - after a wail of “nooooooo!” - that he was “literally heartbroken”. And so it fell to Katherine Waterston (the actress behind Tina Goldstein) to comfort him, saying “listen, obviously, he’s jealous.”
It’s a pretty hilarious video to watch, and Katherine sums up the whole interaction well, saying that “we all get attached to our own wands, that’s the thing.” And who knows - maybe Dan is just jealous...
