The Aftermath Of Writing A Novel

Chapter 14

On February 28, 2025, I had the honour of being able to publish my first complete novel, titled The Kid Who’s Cursed and releasing it on Amazon. In the weeks since, I have gone through some incredible experiences which I want to share with you. Also, later on, I am going to give some advice if you are ever interested in publishing yourself.

First, to quickly promote, my novel is a supernatural teen drama and murder mystery. I started writing it when I was 13 and have finally published it now just short of being 16. The story was an incredible way for me to express my feelings and tell a tale, to be able to escape into another world and be able to experience the life of another. I may be a little biased, but I would definitely suggest checking out the novel on Amazon if you can.

Publishing was a challenging yet rewarding experience. Within the first week, almost everyone I knew found out and it was a huge topic of discussion for the people I know. Going to school, not just did all of my teachers find out, but so did all of my friends and others in my town. This led to sales going way up and more people talking about the story.

At this point, less than one month has gone by since publishing. In that time, over 70 copies of the novel have been sold and I have gotten a ton of positive reviews. The Amazon page has been visited by many different people from many different countries. Through my real-life connections as well as promotion through TikTok and Youtube, I have been able to get even more sales than I initially expected.

I won’t give much advice on publishing as I published an article about that a few months ago, but the main point is that you can do most of the publishing process on your own. I did not work with a large publishing company but did work with one, but many other people are unable to work with any publisher at all. Any person can simply publish through Amazon if they wish, and it is a very easy process to go through.

Not all the feedback has been positive, though. As a high school student, there have been many accounts of teasing or rude comments from some of my fellow students. However, I have worked hard to stand my ground and stand by my actions to do what I love and publish the novel. To anyone else in this scenario, do not let anyone else force you to not follow your heart. Do what you love, even if it gets pushback. If it gets a lot, then that means you are doing something right.

Publishing my novel, The Kid Who’s Cursed, last month on Amazon has been a very fulfilling and incredible experience. People have been able to read my story which demonstrates a modern tale of a school in the current time, showing others how school really is and bringing them back to their adolescent ages. Writing this novel has been one of the best experiences of my life and I would certainly suggest it to everyone that I can.
