The Keeper’s Warning

Chapter 3

Eli froze, the weight of the Keeper’s words settling over him like the storm clouds outside. His mind raced with questions, but his tongue felt heavy, unable to form a coherent response. The Keeper’s piercing gray eyes shifted to the wand on the pedestal, and they stepped closer.

“That wand,” the Keeper said, their voice low and measured, “was forged centuries ago by the first Wandmaker. It is no ordinary wand—it holds a fragment of ancient magic, both powerful and uncontrollable.”

Eli swallowed, his throat dry. “I didn’t mean to awaken it,” he stammered. “I didn’t even know it was here!”

The Keeper’s gaze softened slightly, though their tone remained grave. “Intent does not matter. The wand has chosen you now, and its destiny is tied to yours. But be warned, young one—its power comes at a cost. You must resist its pull, or it will consume you.”

Eli glanced at the wand, now glowing faintly as though it were alive. He felt an odd connection to it, a magnetic pull that both frightened and fascinated him. “What should I do?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

The Keeper studied him for a moment before answering. “There is only one way to control the wand’s power—you must seek out the Wandmaker’s legacy. The secrets lie in the ruins

of his old workshop, far beyond the borders of this forest. But the path is perilous, and you will not be the only one seeking it.”

Eli felt a chill run down his spine. “Who else is looking for it?”

“Dark forces,” the Keeper said, their expression darkening. “Those who would use the wand’s power to bring chaos to both the magical and non-magical worlds. You must reach the legacy before they do.”

The weight of the situation hit Eli like a ton of bricks. He was just a regular kid—a bit of a loner, sure, but nothing special. How was he supposed to take on dark forces and uncover ancient secrets? Yet, as he looked at the wand, he felt a flicker of determination. Maybe, just maybe, he could rise to the challenge.

The Keeper turned to leave, their cloak billowing like smoke. “Prepare yourself, boy. Your journey begins at dawn. And remember—trust no one.”

With that, they vanished into the shadows, leaving Eli alone in the workshop. The wand on the pedestal seemed to pulse in time with his racing heartbeat. He wasn’t sure what the future held, but one thing was clear: his life would never be the same.
