Christmas
Chapter 6
Merry Christmas, lovely readers! Welcome back to yet another chapter with your girl Ives. Today I am more than thrilled to bring to you the history and celebrations of an amazing holiday… Christmas!

History :
*This will discuss Christian beliefs. If you do not actively believe or support that you can continue to the next chapter or the next section of this chapter! The discussion will not be that deep as to not create controversy! <3*
Christmas is celebrated on December 25th as the mark of the birth of Jesus. This day also aligns with the Winter Solstice which was a celebration of the sun being “reborn,” which would spark new hope. This has led to many believing that Christ represents the sun and the renewal he’ll bring. Jesus was brought to life to continue the work of God, the holy spirit impregnated Mary so her son could do God’s work.
There is an old Viking tradition that some believe may have been one of the origins of Christmas. In pre-Christian Europe, Vikings used to honor the winter solstice, by celebrating with music, food, drinks, and sometimes even animal sacrifices. However, with the arrival of Christianity in Europe, the festival began to be celebrated less frequently. Over time, both traditions merged, ultimately shaping Christmas into what we know today.

Now we get to the BEST part! Cue drum roll… THE CELEBRATIONS!
1. The most popular is GIFT GIVING! (I’ll be giving some ideas for that later, so don’t fear!)
2. Advent Calendars are also something fun.
3. Caroling (I did that just yesterday!)
4. Christmas Movies/Plays!
5. Decorating your room or house!
6. Secret Santas!
7. A big yummy meal!
8. Gathering with family and friends!
9. Exchanging Christmas cards!
10. Baking, usually gingerbread cookies!
There is probably much I left out but I gathered what I figured was appropriate! Thanks for reading <3
