Recipe Of The Month

Chapter 4

December 4th, 2024 - Hufflepuff Dormitories

Ivy woke up from her slumber, consumed by her hunger. She hadn’t eaten anything since the morning! Instead of going to the kitchen to prepare lunch or dinner, she had one singular craving: COOKIES!

Bonjour, mes amours! <3
Happy holidays! To get into the holiday spirit I’ve decided to share my sacred snickerdoodle recipe. These cookies are scrumptious when they’re warm and fluffy, and are also perfect for the winter season! Let’s delve into this goodness!

Recipe ~

⋅ Ingredients ⋅

1 ½ cups of sugar
½ of room temperature butter
½ cup of shortening (I use Crisco)
2 eggs
2 ¾ flour
3 teaspoons of of cream tartar
1 teaspoon of baking soda
¼ teaspoon of salt
¼ cup of sugar
2 teaspoons of cinnamon

Step 1 ~ Oven + Pan

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees fahrenheit.
Grease your pan with whatever you have on hand, such as butter, baking grease, or parchment paper.

Step 2 ~ Cookie Dough

Mix 1 ½ cup sugar, butter, shortening, & eggs in a large bowl. Once combined, stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt ( this has to chill for an hour or two before rolling!)

Step 3 ~ Dough Shaping

Shape your dough into round balls. I use a cookie scooper for this step.

Step 4 ~ Topping

Combine the remaining ¼ cup of sugar and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon in a small bowl. Roll dough balls in the mixture then place 2 inches apart on your pan.

I cook for anywhere from 8-10 minutes! If you prefer a crispier cookie, I recommend nothing more than 10, softer cooking nothing less than 8!

Once those are cooked, you're done! You can sit and enjoy some of Marlee Potter's hot coco maybe!

Ivy bounced in anticipation, eager for these cookies to be done at last! To go with it, she had been preparing some of Marlee’s Hot Cocoa. Ivy took the cookies out of the oven and let them cool for a few minutes while she finished cleaning, putting the next batch in, and finishing her cocoa. Finally, her long-sought hunger could be ceased. She took a bite of the golden and gorgeous cookie. It was hot, yet delicious!

I hope you enjoyed my recipe for this month! Once again, happy holidays! <3
