The group was stunned silent. Whispers broke out, “Potter and Malfoy?!” “The Saviour and the Death Eater?!” Hermione ushered them off, giving Harry and Cedric some privacy. Harry bit his lip, nodding silently in consent to Cedric’s threats. Draco looked over at the exchange, deciding, for Harry’s sake, to treat Harry with indifference. His heart ached at the impossibility of his young love, helplessly making his way to the dorms. At least most of his fellow eighth years are more willing to forgive than the rest of the wizarding world....
Cedric walked a defeated looking Harry into his and Draco’s room, making a show of kissing a red-faced Harry thoroughly in front of Draco. Draco clenched his teeth, schooling his manners into an unreadable mask, as Harry gasped for air. Cedric hugged him, whispering “you are mine. Be good now…”, bade him goodnight, shot Draco a death glare, then left to settle down in his and Goyle’s dorms.
Harry mumbled, “Sorry.” Quickly brushed his teeth, unpacked his trunk, and crawled into bed. Sighing, Draco did the same. Laying in bed, he thought of Harry’s mesmerizing atacamite eyes, his soft, fluffy, endearingly messy dark locks, the way the name ‘Draco’ had sounded on his tongue. He fell asleep to the memory of warmth of Harry’s soft embrace against his, Harry’s hair tickling his ears as he relaxed into Draco’s arms…
A loud knock woke the roommates from their slumber. Expecting it to be Ron, who always found it his job to wake Harry up for breakfast, he opened the door, revealing a very flustered Hermione.
“Oh Harry, Malfoy, Ron and Nott got into a fight. He’s outraged with you and I for ‘siding with the slytherins’. Harry, I thought Ron would understand, you know…”
She burst into tears as Harry pulled her into a hug. “ ‘Mionie it’s okay. He lost his brother after all. It’s only understandable for him to feel bitter, we’ll just try and talk him through it, okay?” Hermione nodded, giving Harry a watery smile, “Thanks Harry. And, if you need any advice regarding Cedric, I’m always here. I’ll go talk to Ron when he has calmed down a bit.” She looked at Malfoy, “Oh, and Theo is perfectly fine, in case you were wondering. Neville and Blaise got along really well as well! Pansy and I are on a first-name basis, soo, how are things with you two? Surely you’re not fighting like before?”
Harry and Malfoy looked at each other, “We’re fine ‘Mione/Granger.”
“Ok,” replied Hermione, “well, see you at breakfast!”
