Lesson 1: Introduction to Transfiguration

Chapter 1
INTRO AND RULES - essays are extra credit and will not affect your grade - c/p any outside source or class material will be met with a failing grade and you may not retake the quiz or test TRANSFIGURATION - transfiguration is the alteration of objects in our physical world and the molecular structure of an item - when messing with the molecules of an object you changing its basic principles - 4 branches: 1. transformation 2. vanishment 3. conjuration 4. untransfiguration - transfiguration formula: T=WxC/VxAxZ -T: intended transfiguration difficulty -W: wand power -C: concentration -V: viciousness -A: mass of beginning object -Z: unknown variable - only mass can be measured because it is the only one that actually has a numeric value - The larger value, for t, means an easier spell, while a smaller object is harder DANGERS - when spells backfire it causes the object to not complete their transfiguration - it may not think about it being dangerous, but changing somethings form like a person can be very dangerous and several things could go wrong TERMS molecules- a group of atoms bonded together to create chemical compounds wand power- the strength of your wand and it is also your relationship with your wand
