Lesson 2: Magical Beginnings

Chapter 2
MAGICAL BEGINNINGS - three theories: 1. The Theory of Uno Mas 2. The Migration Theory 3. The Theory of Hocus Pocus THE THEORY OF UNO MAS - the theory states that magic came from one person, the first wizard, Uno Mas - not his original name but was giving the name because he was believed to be the first wizard. Originally written in Arabic, it translates to First Magi - A book written by William Marangue states that Uno lived in the time of reptiles and before cavemen - He is believed to be the father of all witches and wizards and the theory also states that he created the first wand, and also making him the literal father of magic THE MIGRATION THEORY - the theory is that muggle and magical people lived together without knowing they had magical abilities - When the Descent of Blizz (also known to muggles as the Ice Age) hit, magical people left the muggles, and created their own settlements - The Migration Theory showed that first boldly showed that claimed there is a natural progression of magic THE THEORY OF HOCUS POCUS - It is the idea that magic came out of thin air naturally, and did not come specifically from a "first wizard" - this theory focuses primarily on the first known women that began to use magic as a form of persuasion and that from this came a "natural progression of magical tendencies" - TERMS - William Marnague: person who wrote the book about Uno Mas and the theory - natural progression: nature has a tendency to force specific habits upon humans who react differently than a magical person would - Birch Bark Manuscript: contains writings and observations that support this theory - Descent of Blizz: the term for the Ice age for magical people
