'Echostar is truly gone,' thought Icepaw. 'She was the best leader Mountainclan will ever have.' Examining the corpse with her mentor, she noticed white fur between Echostar's claws. 'Fox fur should be orange. So why is this white?' She wondered. 'If Echostar had been fighting a fox, why were her only wounds a couple of small claw marks on her chest and a slit throat?' "Silverspot, are you noticing this?" She asked her mentor. "The wounds and the fur doesn't add up." "Yes," Silverspot sighed. "Hopefully we will find answers at the Moontree tonight." Icepaw's heart leaped. "Tonight, you will become a full medicine cat." Her mentor grinned at her. "But, don't you have to die before I am a full medicine cat?" Icepaw inquired. "N-not that I want you to die," she stuttered. Silverspot sighed. "You always were a smart one. I fear that soon my time to hunt with Starclan will come. Let's eat our herbs and set off for the Moontree." She turned and padded into the den, Icepaw trailing behind her. Walking to the Moontree was not a very long journey, but they would have to leave soon, she thought as she swallowed the bitter leaves. They set off through the forest, walking silently alongside each other. The Moontree was a spectacular sight, bathed in blue moonlight and swaying gently in the wind. Pushing through the willow's branches, Icepaw watched fireflies flying through the air. Settling down beside her mentor, she touched her nose to the trunk of the tree.
