Roses and Thorns
Chapter 18
Amidst the ripe corn crops Shone a red beam bright Luring me to gaze at it And hold the comely sight And I ran to the gleaming spot To cherish the lissome rose As it tossed its lithe head I approached its warm close I enclosed the bud tight In my coarse closed fist As its soft petals tickled My warm, scented wrist As I felt its fresh wet leaves My fingers wrapped with green And the tender stalk wriggled Thin, long and lean Sudden blood oozed out The rose stung me hard As I was lured and hurt in pain By the pretty disguised hazard It merged with its corolla deep red As it flowed and flowed on the corn I howled,"Rose!Thou cheated me! Thou hurt me with your hidden thorn!" Please ignore the grammatical and spelling errors.
