Witch's Broom Pencils

DIY never fails to make a fun and practical project! This craft is just about the cutest DIY ever! This fancy new DIY is called Witch’s Broom Pencils. These are pencils made to look just like a broomstick! The bottom of the pencil (near the eraser) will be full of small pieces of yarn fraying out in a triangular direction! This leaves the lead part of the pencil, making the ultimate writing tool! These tiny broomsticks will be a must-have in your Hogwarts collection!

Materials: Mini gold pencils, small rubber bands, brown yarn (color = optional), clear tape, scissors

Steps:

  • Roll out the yarn to a small/medium length.
  • Cut about 20 pieces of yarn of that length and repeat the rolling out of the yarn (this amount will vary depending on how full you want the bottom of the broom to be!)
  • Fold the pieces of yarn in half so they are smaller and almost even in length. Place 7-8 of the folded pieces of yarn around the bottom of the pencil so that the part where the yarn bends is on the top when holding the pencil upright. Then, quickly tape the top (bent part) of the folded pieces of yarn onto the bottom of the pencil.
  • *Repeat steps 4 and 5 until you get a full broom!*
  • Circle/warp two small rubber bands around the top of the yarn and on the tape to hold everything in place and make it look like a broomstick! (you can also choose to not use tape at all and go with hot glue or simply nothing; however, it might be easier to have the pieces of yarn already stuck onto the pencil before putting the rubber bands on)

That concludes the Witch’s Broom Pencils DIY! Feel free to add any number of other decorations to make these broomsticks your own! These can be displayed for decoration or even be used to write, draw, or do whatever a pencil can do (besides erasing)!
