Laila looked up from her book to find Austen Addam's bright green eyes staring intently at her. Staring right back at him, she put her blue and gold bookmark into her book, "A Tale of Two Cities," by Charles Dickens. Looking up at Professor Rhyan, she sat up in her chair, looking around at her classmates. Austen Addams, as mentioned beforehand, Rhys Calilae, Laena Kartland, Mor Tyle, and Jace Heronduck (A/N: Please, if you have read TMI or TID, get that this is my way of secretly terrorizing the Herondales) were the ones that she knew. But there was also a girl with flaming red hair and bright blue eyes, and a girl with long inky-black hair, and blue-grey eyes. Professor Rhyan was currently droning on about the importance of knowing what you need to know, and what you don't, and it was dreadfully boring. Laila laid down her head on her desk, and drifted away into the blurry world of dreams and prophecies.

Laila was looking at herself, as if in a different body, not full corporeal, but a ghost, a memory, a past self. As she looked down at herself, she realized she was running, and she was not alone. Austen, Rhys, Laena, Jace, Mor, and Isabelle and Marisa (she had learned their names earlier in class) had all joined her. She was shocked to see Jace pull out... a knife? And now she had a glowing yellow orb in her hand, and Marisa, Isabelle, and Mor all had necklaces, that when touched grew into long, silver whips. Now Rhys, Laena, and Austen were the only ones without weapons, until Rhys seemed to conjure a long cloud of darkness, darkness that could break bones, and shake worlds. Laena grabbed a long, golden sword that hadn't been there before, and Austen... Austen was running, full speed before them... and as he ran out of the picture, he was hurled back, his heart stabbed with a black spear of poison.
