Mollie Safron is used to her luxurious life back in District 2, going to parties in fancy dresses at the mayor's house, training with cute boys, it perfect. Until the reaping starts. Millie's name was put into the least amount of times. It's no use, when her name is called she goes up, a d shakes the boy's hand. It's one of the street rats. As a goodbye her parents give her a diamond necklace. Then she says goodbye.

Training was harder than at the academy, Mollie's bow skills looked lame against Crow's. She stayed up, later than everyone, and practised. When news reporters came Marie made James and Mollie play their act. Mollie knew she was not in love with James and still in love with John until a message came in the mail.Dear Molls, It's me, Sam. I hope your doing ok, is training fun? We saw you kiss the boy. John is heartbroken. He kissed me, he kissed me yesterday and I kissed him back. He told me he had to be over you because you would never win. I disagree, I think you can win, and when you do, be with James, ok? John is a jerk and you dont deserve him. Mollie knew that John would forget her while at the games, but betray her, with her bestfriend? That was horrible. She cried yo James about it, and comforted her. 'He was not good enough for you. You were to good.' He told her, and she sobbed. She knew that she still did not like James, the way she was supposed to. Her arrow skills got better, until they were the best. She had heard that the victor of the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen, had used a bow. Training got harder and harder, they had to monkey bar across 100 feet, over mud 20 feet deep. The boy, Crow fell in, and almost died. Crow was 14 and his sister 16. He had watched Mollie durning training, she was good. He admired her, she had humour, style, and skill. He knew that if he told her that he liked her it would ruin the scheme. The banquet dinner was crowded with people. Mollie saw James and Crow talking, a heated conversation. 'You'd ruin it if you told her. I would die!' She heard James yell. 'You're not really in love with her though!' 'You dont know that!' 'She's two years younger than you!' 'And, what does that do!' 'It would be wierd for a 14 year old to love a 16 year old! Please, hear me out I'm in lo-' Mollie walked over and put a hand on each of their shoulders. At dinner she sat in the middle of them, watching both of them glare at each other. First course was salads, vegan, vegetarian, and meat salads, with small dumplings, and meat pies. Second course was steaks, fish, and soups, and finally third course, dessert was cake, chocolate, cupcakes, and all different assortments. That night after everyone had gone to bed Crow, snuck into Mollie's room. He nudged her softly until she woke up. 'Can you come with me?'
