Rising Star #1- Lizzie Scamander

Chapter 5
A "Rising Stars" is a Hogwarts student who shows creativity and promise, and Lizzie was the perfect person to be the first ever Hogwarts Post Rising star. Her book Wit Beyond Measure really was eye catching and detailed. Go follow her if you Have not done so yet. Lizzie's Backstory (from her wall): Full Name: Elizabeth Leta Scamander (prefers to be called Lizzie though) Age: Between 10 and 20 Personality: Lizzie can be slightly reserved at times, though on the whole is a friendly and positive person. However, since she grew up with animals, they are sometimes her main source of company. She also seeks peace and reassurance from merely being around trees, where she finds the rustling whispers of leaves soothing. Lizzie is the second child of Sebastian and Esther Bellamy, with an older sister Theodora (nicknamed Dora) and a younger sister Matilda. Her mother, Esther, was of the Scamander side, and met Sebastian, a very musical Muggle, in New Zealand while studying the native magical creatures there. They ended up marrying, and settled down in New Zealand in the middle of one of the bushy forests. Lizzie loved it there. She grew up in a beautiful environment filled with animals, trees, and the liberty to go and run off into the bush whenever she pleased. However, she still has a quiet side, and was the most prone of her sisters to plonk down inside and read for hours on end, or either sew a nice embroidery pattern. She was also the best at avoiding burning something while cooking, and was regarded as the sister chef by Dora and Matilda. When Dora turned eleven, the usual age a witch or wizard would begin their magical education, Sebastian and Esther turned to homeschooling her. Lizzie assumed that would be the same for her, but when she reached eleven her parents decided to move back to England. The Scamander was an English line, and therefore natural that they should attend Hogwarts. Lizzie loved her home in New Zealand, and was reluctant to leave, though thanks to her rather patient nature eventually relented. Dora, however, put up a very stubborn fight so that by the time she finally gave in her mother's set of antique vases were all smashed. So the family moved back to England, and Lizzie and Dora went to Hogwarts. Lizzie was sorted into Hufflepuff, though the Sorting Hat had quite a bit of difficulty deciding between that and Ravenclaw. Dora (quite unsurprisingly) was sorted into Gryffindor, and soon after Matilda followed her there. The Bellamy girls were all settled in Hogwarts. Though their connection to the Scamanders still permitted them that adventurous personality that is truly unavoidable if you are a Scamander. Lizzie never really liked to think of her animals as 'pets'. They were her companions, her best friends, part of her family. Although she grew up in a magical creature crowded home, she was always attached to non-magical creatures too. When she was younger she found a small, sickly kitten, and at first it appeared it would not survive. However, it managed to push on, and is now a healthy black tomcat. Lizzie christened him 'Cornix', for he was black as a raven, and 'Cornix' is Latin for that bird. As ravens are also smart birds, Lizzie knew it fitted the cat perfectly Because she grew up in a family of animal enthusiasts, Lizzie was always fascinated by the concept of animagi. That was her wish growing up - that she could become an animagus. Lizzie, not too much of an ambitious person, never pictured herself transforming into something large - an animal like a bird or mouse was perfectly fine. And one day she decided to try and put this wish into action. It was very hard. Becoming an animagus is no easy task, and especially when Lizzie was only twelve. However, maybe because she was very attached to animals and understood them well, she managed it shortly after her thirteenth birthday. She cannot transform into a huge animal, but just a small sparrow. Yet this still enables her to do what she always wanted to do - fly. I love Lizzie's story, and how much work she put into her wall. Lizzie truly is an inspiration and I think we could all learn something from her.
