‘You might belong in Gryffindor, Where dwell the brave at heart, Their daring, nerve and chivalry Set Gryffindors apart’- The Sorting Hat The founder of Gryffindor House is Godric Gryffindor, one of the four original founders of Hogwarts. The head of this house is Minerva McGonagall. Gryffindor house is tied with Ravenclaw House when it comes to capacity, both of them are tied for ‘Most Students Sorted Here’. (16 out of 20) It’s common knowledge that the Gryffindor House is praised and known for it’s bravery. Members of this house are adventurous and courageous. Some of the houses core words are- Bravery Daring Chivalry Courage The Gryffindor colors are scarlet and gold, their element is fire, and their mascot is a lion. Gryffindors are not afraid to put themselves or others at risk, and they aren’t afraid of a challenge. They will commonly be at the front of the pack, but they aren’t necessarily leaders. They will ALWAYS fight for what’s right! The Gryffindor believe in justice, not mercy. Traits: Courage Bravery Determination Daring Nerve Chivalry Famous/Notable Members of the Gryffindor House Include: Godric Gryffindor, Minerva McGonagall, Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. The Gryffindor House Ghost: Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington, who is more commonly and widely known as ‘Nearly Headless Nick’. He died in 1492.
