News Article – The Eighth Instalment
We thought there were seven Horcruxes, but there were eight. We thought there were seven Harry Potter stories - but yes, there will indeed be eight. The eighth Harry Potter story, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, is the same story that will be on stage in London this summer. For the many Potterheads who are unable to see the performance on stage, this book will be the script of the production as put on stage, featuring what happens after the epilogue of the Deathly Hallows comes to a close.
The synopsis (courtesy of Pottermore):
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
The script of the play and content of the book will of course be contributed to by J.K. Rowling, as well as award-winning playwright Jack Thorne. The director of the Cursed Child play. John Tiffany, will also be contributing to the creation of the story. The play will premiere July 2016, and the book will be released on July 31st - Harry’s 36th birthday.
Along with the movie of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them coming out this fall, Potterheads and just plain HP fans all over the world eagerly await the release of the Cursed Chuld play and book this summer - we’ve been promised a story of epic proportions, and, knowing J.K. Rowling, I’m sure we'll get one.
