Hufflepuff Common Room (Informational)
Chapter 2
As you know, in the Harry Potter movies and books, we never have been able to see the Hufflepuff common room. Hufflepuff is the only house with repelling devices in case of intruders. The common room is accessed through a pile of large barrels, found stacked in a shadowy stone recess on a right-hand side corridor near the kitchens. A myth says that the location of the common room is next to the kitchen because Helga Hufflepuff was οne of the best cooks in Hogwarts. To get to the Hufflepuff common room, students have to go towards the kitchens, located in the basement of the castle. Unlike the other Common rooms, you don’t need to say a password to get into the room. Furthermore, this common room has a built-in security system! If you don’t tap the correct password, one of the barrels will pop open and cover you in vinegar! A colourful profusion of plants and flowers seem to relish the atmosphere of the common room. A portrait over the wooden mantelpiece shows Helga Hufflepuff, toasting her students with a tiny, two-handled golden cup (the Horcrux that Harry Potter destroyed). Pomona Sprout decorated the common room with interesting plants that can dance and talk, placing them on the windowsills or having them hang from the ceiling, encouraging the students to have an interest in Herbology. That’s all about the Hufflepuff common room! See you next weekend! Clarissa Angelina Herkins, HDN Writer
