The Beans and How they Relate to Muggles

Chapter 3
Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans are very similar to Muggle "jelly beans". The color of the jelly bean can give one a hint as to what they are about to eat, but there is no prepackaged flavour chart with the beans, so a consumer must simply risk it. The flavours can be normal candy flavours, but they can also be disgusting or flavors that aren't really foods. For more about flavors, see chapter four. They are packaged in rectangular cartons with clown faces at the top. The cartons are priced at about six sickles a carton. They can be bought at many places, including the trolley on the Hogwarts express and Honeydukes in Hogsmeade. The Bertie Bott's company is obviously very profitable because they advertised at the Quidditch World Cup and advertisements there are very expensive. Unfortunately, Muggles have discovered Every Flavour Beans and recreated their own version under the company "Jelly Belly", which produces jelly beans for muggles. They can be purchased at muggle stores, amusement parks, and "online", which is a muggle network on the "computer". The muggles did not take delight in the risk of picking a bean and not knowing what it is, so they have created a flavor chart. However, they did not include all of the flavours, but I have, in the next chapter.
