Classical dance, also called ballet, is a type of dance that originated in the 15th century. It was imported to France by the Italians. Classical dance performances are primarily and typically ballets. Ballet dancing is a difficult art because the movements are very precise and complicated. Classical music accompanies the dancers. In classical dance, the dancers will generally dance in 8 beats, or 6 beats (waltz time), this helps them to be on the music. Ballet dance is performed using basic positions and movements, such as plies, demi-pliés and curtsy. We start with the demi-pointes, then there are the points for girls which are slippers with hard ends that allow you to climb on the toes. The technique of the girls is mainly linked to the points while the technique of the boys consists mainly of turns and jumps in the air. The dancers should stand up straight and watch the audience. They must not show their real emotions (especially the pain) but those of the characters they play, and must show a certain ease even on pointes and in sauces The ballet or classical ballet is a dance performance that tells a story thanks to dances, costumes and sets. Ballet is the most typical classical dance performance, and this is usually the goal of learning to dance. One of the greatest ballet composers is Tchaikovsky who composed ballet music known around the world like The Nutcracker and Swan Lake. One of the greatest choreographers of the 19th century is Marius Petipa who created ballets like Paquita, Le Corsaire, Don Quichotte, la Bayadère, Coppélia, or Giselle. There are many other famous choreographers like Roland Petit or Rudolf Nureyev. Ballets are often Russian. They are performed in an opera. The staging of the ballet is the work of the choreographer: he invents sequences, sequences of movements that the dancers will have to learn and reproduce. Of course, this is all done to the beat of the music.
