Chapter 2

“Your finally awake” a gruff voice said. The man had shaggy brown hair and his hazel eyes reflected the blue flames of the fire. “Drink this“ he said handing the girl a vial full of swirling purple liquid. After drowning the vial she set it down. “Who are you? Where are we? Who am I?” The last question felt like a punch in the gut. The man sighed “I’ve never met someone with so many questions” he grumbled. “I am Cassius” he said “we are in a forest” he said motioning to the dark trees around them. “And I’m not sure who you are” Cassius said. Then she noticed his clothes, brown pants with boots and a black and blue tunic. “Only the elders know who you are” he said pulling out a different vial full of orange liquid. He poured it over the blue flames and after a few seconds there was only ash were the fire once was. “Collect that ash” Cassius ordered and threw her the vial. “Why?” She asked and Cassius groaned “do you ever stop asking questions?” He asked and she shut up and began to collect the ash. Once she put the cork on and handed it to Cassius she stood up. “You have freaky eyes” Cassius said putting the bottle into his satchel. The girl cocked her head in confusion and when Cassius didn’t tell her why she opened her mouth to ask a question. “Don’t ask that question” Cassius warned and she shut her mouth. “We have another day of travel so don’t complain” and the girl nodded. Cassius nodded “good” he said “this way” he said walking out of the clearing and into the trees. The girl followed behind and fell into step with Cassius. Soon after the sun began to rise over the trees. “Will you explain to me where we are going?” She asked when the two stopped at a river. Cassius sighed “damn” he muttered before turning to the girl. “We are going to the elders of the guild” that statement created more questions then it did answer but she kept her mouth shut. “We’re almost there” he said standing up and taking a swig of the water. “”Then we can place you”
