Chapter One The Beginning Our story begins on July 4, 2005, with the birth of a girl named Xena Ivorny. She was blessed to a mother who didn’t care about her, but a father who loved her more than anything in the universe. Xena’s father was, in fact, thrilled to be blessed with a lovely little girl. Her father was, as fate would have it, magical. When I say he was magical I mean he was, well a magical being. So it was natural that he wanted his wife and daughter to live in the magical world. His wife, however, though at first excited to have the girl, quickly made up her mind she didn’t like the child, not to mention she also hated magic and anything to do with it. She thought it was a simple fable that was taught to small children. This was an obvious problem. Mysteriously but not surprisingly Xena’s parents went missing about 2 weeks after Xena was born. Something was bound to happen, and that something was almost guaranteed to be by magical causes. Poor baby Xena was left all alone in the house only to be found hours later by someone who was definitely not one of her parents. This odd visitor was a woman. She was wearing a long black cloak and had a very interesting but beautiful necklace. Xena had begun to cry in her small crib. A lamp in her room began to turn on and off as the intruder made her way to the room and came in quietly. Xena stopped what she was doing, and so did the lamp in the room. As the visitor finally came into the baby’s view, she lifted her hood to reveal long hair that was so black it looked like a dark blue. “Hello,” she said to the baby who giggled in return. The woman smiled. “My name is Mira” She continued. “I'm going to be taking you somewhere safe.” The child seemed confused. As if she was expecting to be treated in some kind of way. “Oh don't worry,” The woman said. “You’ll be quite safe where we’re going,” Mira says reassuringly. But if only Mira knew how wrong she was. She carefully picked up the baby in her blankets and started to walk toward the door. Red and blue lights started to flash like fireworks on the fourth of July. Sirens were wailing, and Xena started crying once again. Mira quickly picked up her pace as she ran towards the back door. There was a loud bang on the front door right before the door crashed down. “Find the girl!”Someone yelled from the doorway. Mira barely heard it as she ran out. “Almost done” she muttered to herself. Over and over again. Mira and Xena continued their journey through the dimly lit streets keeping a steady pace. She came to a stop when she saw a small brick building with a bronze plaque reading: “Dr.Juniper Irwins 943 Stitly Way” The plaque was quite rusted but still readable. “This is the place,” Mira said as she started to walk up the small steps. Before knocking on the door she glanced at the street and to the child one last time. “We’ll see each other again,” She said with a small smile. Though she was a bit unsure if the baby quite understood. She finally knocked on the dark oak door and seemed to disappear into thin air before someone opened the door and found Xena.
