The Hogwarts Express
Chapter 3
I soon learnt more things about my owner. Firstly, she was obsessed with obtaining a good education, she was an attentive and dedicated reader, and had procured considerable knowledge from her relentless studying. I presumed Diagonally would be my home, as it always had been, but however, I was wrong. One day I was taken to a bustling train station, transported through a seemingly solid barrier, and I thus appeared on the platform nine and three quarters. It was all sudden and unceremonious, but for some reason I felt excitement and eagerly sat patiently in my basket while Hermione boarded the train. I was displeased to note the red headed boy (who I had learnt to be called Ron) and the dark haired one (I had discovered his name was Harry) come with us. We entered a compartment. I was relieved when Hermione took me out of my basket, and place me on her lap. I gladly accepted the attention she then gave me, while intensely disliking the scowls that that Ron boy shot at me. He was so rude, and I really did not like him. They immersed themselves in conversation while I sat comfortably on Hermione's lap, and the train began to move. Then I froze. Again I had discerned, easily distinguishable on the air, the smell of a rat. The rat. And then I saw it, poking its whiskered face out of the pocket of Ron, and I jumped lightly off Hermione's lap to the opposite seat.
