The Giant Squid

Chapter 3

‘Harry!’ Hermione shouted, instantly running into the water. ‘What happened?’ Ron asked. ‘He got dragged into the water,’ Hermione told him, ‘he’ll drown, we have to save him!’ Ron nodded so they put on Bubble Head charms and dived into the water. It was so black they couldn’t see a thing. ‘Ron?’ Ron heard Hermione’s voice in his ear. ‘Hermione? I thought you couldn’t talk underwater!’ ‘We’ve got the Bubble Head charm on, remember, the water isn’t clogging our mouths so we can’t speak!’ Ron muttered a quiet ‘Oh.’ and they swam and swam until Hermione stopped. ‘Hermione, what’s wrong?’ Ron asked. ‘Shh!’ She answered, but it came out as a shrill shriek. Ron covered his ears at the horrible noise. But then in front of him, he saw a huge orange light look straight at him. ‘Look out!’ Hermione shouted and they dived out the way just as a tentacle came flying towards them. ‘What’s happening?’ Shouted Ron, dodging all the tentacles that were determined to catch him. ‘It’s the Giant Squid, and it’s got Harry!’ Hermione replied, but then screamed. ‘Hermione!’ Ron shouted and looked around only to find himself alone in the darkness. Meanwhile, Hermione was taken by the Giant Squid and she looked around to see if Harry was also wrapped in tentacles. ‘Harry!’ Hermione shouted. ‘Harry, are you there?’ She heard someone stir next to her. She quickly cast the Bubble Head charm on it. ‘Harry?’ She shook the body next to her. ‘Hermione? What happened?’ Harry asked, grateful to be breathing again. ‘Harry! I’m so glad you’re okay!’ Hermione cried. ‘You got taken by the Giant Squid! I did too, so Ron’s the only one out there now!’ They heard a ‘BANG!’ close by. ‘Harry, do you have your wand?’ Hermione asked. ‘Um... yeah!’ Harry pulled out his wand from his pocket. ‘Come on! Let’s get out of here!’ And they started fighting the tentacles that held them.
