Class
Chapter 1
The sun was shining, and Harry was sweating like mad.
‘How much longer do you think Professor Binns will take?’ Harry asked Ron, only to find him fast asleep on his desk. Hermione was paying full attention, so Harry didn’t dare ask her.
‘Ron. RON!’ Harry shook Ron as quietly as he could, but not as quiet as he should of.
‘Mr. Potter, do you have a question?’ Professor Binns asked Harry.
‘Um... no.’
‘Well then, why are you shouting like a banshee?’
There were giggles from the class.
Harry really didn’t understand why WHENEVER someone said something, it was so HILARIOUSLY funny that you had to giggle in class.
He shook his head as Binns went back to his lecture, and turned his attention to Ron again.
Ron, however, was wide awake, and was whispering to Hermione. Hermione actually wasn’t listening to the Professor!
Harry tried to read their conversation. First, Hermione looked sincere. Then she concentrated. Then she looked annoyed and shook her head. Then Ron told her something in a louder voice, and she laughed, and replied something like ‘yes’. Ron turned back to his desk.
‘What was that about?’ Harry asked. Ron turned to Harry, looking like he forgot Harry existed.
‘Oh, hi Harry.’ Ron said.
‘Yeah, hi! Not like I’ve been here the whole time or something!’ Harry said, exasperated.
‘Sorry, mate. I was just asking Hermione if she’d like to go to the Black Lake this afternoon.’
Harry looked confused. ‘Like a date?’ He asked.
Ron went maroon, matching his Gryffindor colours. ‘No!’ He said as soon as the words left Harry’s mouth. ‘No, I mean, I was gonna ask you just now.’
Harry couldn’t help grinning. Neither of his best friends realised how obvious it was.
‘Oh, ok.’
‘So, are you coming?’ Ron asked.
‘Of course. It’s really hot today after all.’
Finally, Professor Binns realised the time. As he was lecturing his goodbye (Professor Binns always lectured everything), Harry looked out the window, and he could have sworn he saw a tentacle in the Black Lake.
