CASSANDRA IS SELFISH

Chapter 7

The next day, Eleanor received a letter from Cassandra. She took off the scroll from the owl's leg with difficulty as it was tied very tightly. She used her wand to untie the rope and opened the scroll hurriedly. She squinted at the small writing and muttered as she read out the letter to herself, "Dear Eleanor, I understand that you have sent Rick as a spy for the benefit of all of us, death eaters. But that is all they know. Let's be a little selfish today. After all, we are death eaters, aren't we? Remember that strand of hair I found on your table that day? I did some magic and found out that it belonged to Mia Grazer. I have no clue of who she is, but I had a feeling that Ashley Roberts might not have told us her real name. Send a letter to this girl telling her that her father has had an accident and her mother hasn't been able to contact the school. She will run home immediately and we will send Rick to Hogwarts as Mia Grazer. He will scour the castle until he has collected every galleon, sickle and knut and then he will come back. The money will be divided among us, if that's fine with you. I hope you take this advice from me, Eleanor. Choose wisely. Cassandra." Eleanor stared at the letter for a few minutes. When she came back to her senses, she frowned at the letter angrily. How could Cassandra suggest such a thing?! Didn't she have any honor, any pride, any humanity in her heart? Eleanor crumpled the letter and threw it in the fire, sizzling with rage. Eleanor was a death eater, but she was once the daughter of Scorpius Malfoy and Rose Granger Weasley. It was true that she was cruel, but deep inside, she was just a girl with a soft heart. She had been unable to recognize her softness so, she chose to become a death eater. Of all her faults and bad decisions, Eleanor Malfoy was not selfish. She was selfish the day she bore the the dark mark, but she had regretted that, and acted more wisely henceforth. She turned to Rick, who was getting ready. He was supposed to go as a surveyor from the Ministry of Magic to check everything at Hogwarts. An owl had already been sent with a false but realistic stamp on it, and now Rick was wearing imperial red robes with an emerald green hat on his head and gold spectacles. He had tried every spell he could think of to try and change his appearance. But he managed to become thin and have a long, white beard.
