Chapter 5

I found Marley sitting on her bed, with her face buried in her hands. She was crying softly and her whole body was shaking. I felt terrible to think I was the cause of this. I advanced cautiously towards her and laid my hand gently on her shoulder. "Hey Marley, I am really sorry about what happened. I truly am! I was just frustrated about everything and honestly, you were getting on my nerves." I said. Marley looked up at this and I got a glimpse of her tear stained face. "Well, I was a bit jealous when you were made leader, and I was really angry when you guys stopped talking to me. But now, i see it was my own fault." she said softly, as she wiped away a tear. "Oh Marley!" I exclaimed, "Why didn't you tell us before? None of this would have happened!" she blew her nose and replied, "How could I have told you, Mia? I couldn't just come over to you and said, 'hey Mia! How's lunch? I didn't talk to you because I was angry you had ignored me. Do you mind sharing one of your chocolate frogs?'." she stopped. After a few moments, I burst out laughing. I laughed so hard, that Marley felt hurt and said quietly, "You think this is funny?" I gathered myself and replied, "No, no, of course not!" And when I took a look at her confused face, I roared with laughter again. After a few minutes, when Marley saw the funny side of things, she erupted with laughter as well! We fell over each other like mad people and had a hearty laugh! And when you laugh together, you just can't be mad at your friends. When we became tired of laughing and giggling, I swung my arm across Marley's shoulder and said, "Well, that was a good laugh, just like the old days. Want to bring those old days back?" I held out my hand as I said that. Marley grinned and replied, "You bet!" and we did our bestie handshake dance!
