CASSANDRA AND THE TRUTH POTION

Chapter 5
It was finally morning. A new day but with no new hopes obviously. I sat up and rubbed my bleary eyes. I was very surprised when Eleanor threw me a piece of bread she had toasted herself. I muttered a word of thanks as I took a look up at her. She was wearing shamrock green robes today and had applied crimson red lip color with thick black kohl that outlined her olive green eyes. She said, "Eat quickly and get ready for your interrogation." I swallowed the bread and exclaimed, "Interrogation of what? I already told you everything I knew." Eleanor eyed me and replied, "Cassandra will be coming today and we will ask you the same questions again." I tried to say something when she put her hand up, "I have not finished. You will also be made to drink the truth potion, veritaserum, and then you will answer our questions. Cassandra will bring three drops and that will be enough." I was perplexed and scared. Truth potion? How would I keep the secrets under a potion? My heart was beating really fast and I was sweating. I had to think of a plan before this, this Cassandra came! If I didn't think of a plan in time, things would turn really bad for me and Hogwarts. After ten minutes, Rick went outside and brought a lady with beautiful hair inside but she seemed cold and hard underneath. She was probably in her twenties. She had straight snow white hair and a thin, colorless face. She was wearing midnight blue robes and in her hands she carried her sleek, black wand and a small bottle with a transparent liquid inside. Cassandra had arrived. She came over to me and said in cold and strict voice, "Stand prisoner." I immediately stood up. Not because I wanted to but because of the dictating and hard voice of Cassandra. She continued, "I am Cassandra Lestrange. Daughter of the late, the very late Bellatrix Lestrange. I have brought a special potion for you which you will have to drink." I shuddered as I saw the potion in her hand. It was no doubt veritaserum. I went weak on my knees but remained silent. Eleanor then appeared from nowhere and bowed, "Cassandra, thank you so much for coming here on such short notice. We got valuable information from Ashley here but we need to know if they are true or not." As Eleanor was being cheesy, I got a few minutes to think. But those minutes ended pretty quick and the next thing I knew was that I was sitting on the lower bunk of the bed with the veritaserum in my hands. "Drink." Cassandra ordered. My mind was working at a rapid speed. Hadn't Eleanor said that Cassandra would bring only three drops? Well, those valuable drops were in my hand. If I spilled the potion, they will have to interrogate me after a month. 28 days to be exact. If I spilled the potion on purpose, the death eaters would know that I was hiding something from them or I was telling untruths. Cassandra's temper was rising. She yelled, "Drink the potion girl!" I pretended to hastily drink it and in doing so, the small bottle slipped from my gentle hands onto the stone floor and the potion dissolved into thin air. There was a shocked silence. The death eaters had a bewildered expression on their face. They thought that the bottle had slipped from my hand but I had done it on purpose. Cassandra was raving as the clutched her hair and howled, "You clumsy little brat! How could you do that?! That potion took me 28 days to make and I had stored it carefully for situations like these, until you spilled it!! This is not acceptable! I am leaving and never again shall I help you Eleanor. I wish you luck to extract the truth on your own, if only you knew how to brew this potion!" she shouted at Eleanor. Then, she walked out of the cave in a huff never to return again (hopefully). My heart was singing with joy! Cassandra won't come to attack Hogwarts now and she was the most powerful death eater of them all, I assumed as I had seen Eleanor bow before her. I tried to look apologetic and downcast while Eleanor and Rick reprimanded me and did not give me any lunch that day. I also had to do double amount of chores but it was totally worth it!
