THE DEATH EATERS
Chapter 3
I didn't know how long I had been unconscious, but it seemed like many days. I opened my eyes and tried to adjust them to the brightness of the room. I pushed myself off the floor and sat against the wall. My ocean blue eyes were clouded with exhaustion and my dark, messy hair was full of knots and tangles. My robes were extremely dirty and my wand was nowhere to be found. I realized I was in the death eater's lair. I gasped with fright and tried to reach the door, but something pulled me back. I turned around and saw two death eaters sitting comfortably on the chairs, with one death eater pointing his wand at me. I fell down with a thud and tears sprang to my eyes. "There is no mode of escape from here." I thought bitterly.
I looked up and took a good look at the two death eaters. The one who had kidnapped me yesterday was exceedingly ugly. He had a fair skin which was difficult to see under the the tattoos that covered his body. His eyes were pure. Purely cruel I mean. A long scar ran down his face from his left eyebrow to his chin. I wondered what could have caused that. He was wearing black robes that were covered in pieces of grass. My eyes shifted to the other death eater who was, without any doubts, a female as she had long, curly, black hair and a savage face done up in make-up and she looked as if she could get up and kill you at any point of time. She was wearing a long, black dress which was torn at many places. What surprised me was that she looked quite young, just a few years older than me!
In observing their brutal features, I had forgotten that I was under a spell. The spell made me walk forward towards the death eaters and I sat down hard on the bed. The first death eater said in a drawling voice, "Malfoy, you start."
I was totally baffled. I voiced my thoughts, "Malfoy?!" I exclaimed loudly. The death eaters chuckled. The woman stared at me and said in a soft but dangerous voice, "Yes darling, Malfoy. Eleanor Malfoy. Bad daughter of the good Scorpius Malfoy and good Rose Granger Weasley." The other death eater laughed. My mind was racing. Scorpius Malfoy was Draco Malfoy's son and wasn't he the best friend of Harry Potter's son too? Rose Granger Weasley was definitely the daughter of Ron and Hermoine, the Minister of Magic. "Where are they now? Your parents?" I asked curiously. Eleanor laughed and whispered to the other death eater, "Tell her Thomas." "Thomas?!" I cried again. "Yeah, Thomas, Rick Thomas. Grandson of Dean Thomas and Parvati Patil. Parents unknown." Eleanor laughed at this. "And as for Malfoy's parents, well, there is something called a killing curse. Never heard of it?" He finished and chuckled. I was trembling with rage. How could the children of such good people become so evil? And how could someone kill their own parents?
My pitiful thoughts were interrupted as Eleanor shoved me to the side of the bed and held my face close to hers, "We will start with the name." she said. I shook my head as she dug her fingernails into my cheeks. "We don't want to use the cruciatus curse on you, do we?" she said dangerously. "Ashley Roberts." I lied. "Hmm." Eleanor continued, "Which house and year are you in Ashley?" "Slytherin and the fifth year." I lied again. Eleanor turned to Rick and he nodded. They seemed to buy everything I was telling them. "You are a slytherin, then why don't you join us? You can have all the glory!" Eleanor tried to tempt me. "Never!" I shouted sizzling with rage, "Being a slytherin doesn't mean that you have to be evil! Take your father's example." Eleanor gritted her teeth at this. Rick realized the tension in the room and changed the topic, "What is going on in Hogwarts?" He asked me in a deep voice. "Nothing much." I replied, trying to look downcast instead of angry. "Details girl, we need details." Rick said, beginning to loose his temper. "We wake up in the morning, have breakfast, go for our lessons, have breaks and quidditch practices, have lunch, have supper, do assignments and go to bed." I replied sarcastically.
At this point, Rick actually did lose his temper. He sprang to his feet and yelled, "Don't try to be funny else I will have to use all the curses in the world on you. I am a death eater and you obey death eaters! Is that clear?" Eleanor sighed and rubbed her forehead, "Sit down Rick and have a glass of water." she said, annoyed by the noise caused, "And you," she turned to me, "Think before you speak to a death eater. Now, Hogwarts knows that some of our friends were here, at Hogsmeade. So, they must have done something to keep you puny students safe. What action was taken? Tell me now girl or..." she took my wand from the table and held it at the two ends as if she was about to break it. "No!" I cried as I tried to grab it from her hand, but the stupid spell held me back. "No?" she mocked me, "Then spill the beans of that dumb Hogwarts." Anger boiled inside me but I did not show it. I tried to think of a story. "Hogwarts has dementors. They are hidden and invisible so you cannot see them. They do not affect us as they are under some powerful spells. That's it." I lied. It was a perfect story! Now the death eaters will be scared to go to Hogwarts and attack the place! The two death eaters had a flicker of fear in their faces and then hid it.
"Enough for now, go and clean this place with that broomstick and I hope you know how to cook." Eleanor ordered me. I glared at her when her back was turned, took the broomstick and began sweeping the dusty floor.
