Chapter 1: History
Chapter 1
The Enchanted Forest has been in existence before humans. Back then the trees would talk freely, not a care in the world. They would have the time of their lives chatting about the weather, the birds, really anything and everything. Life for the trees was good. At least until the humans came. When the humans arrived, the trees didn't know what to do so they kept talking, and talking. The humans didn't know what to think. "Trees? Talking?" they said. The trees were the center of attention and the loved it. There were parties and bonfires, laughing and dancing! But once the initial shock and joy of talking trees wore off the people began to get curious as to what made them talk. The Cloud of Doom was first brought on by a woodcarver who went by the name Joseph C. Tutwiler when he cut down the Wisdom Tree. The Wisdom Tree was the only tree that spoke freely to humans, giving them advice and such. Joseph wanted to find out what was inside the tree and whether the tree would grow back. Luckily, the Wisdom Tree has grown back but not for many years after it was cut down. After the Wisdom Tree was cut down the townspeople thought it was okay to cut down more and more trees until there were few left. The humans then left because wood was growing scarce. So they left. Then the dragons came. Big and small, scaly and smooth, hundreds of them. The dragons original home had been destroyed be a meteor and they were passing through on their way to what some say is now Realm 3 of the Hidden Realms. The dragons destroyed all the remaining trees leaving burning stumps behind. For thousands of years all the trees did were re-grow. No talking, just growing. By the time they finished re-growing the entire forest had been forgotten and all remaining memories were said to be myths. Everyone believed that, except Kenneth J. Roberts. Kenneth knew that it couldn't be a myth so he set out to find the forest. He searched for 10 years and just when he was about to give up he saw a single stump in the middle of a meadow with an engraving on it that read Qui invenit thesaurum honorem multum accipietis opibus which he translated to mean He who finds the treasure shall receive great honor and wealth. Kenneth searched for one more day and found it. An amazing cove of trees and the slight smell of rain, birds chirping, and the faint whisper of the trees. He ran back home and found that his entire town had been destroyed by giants, so he gathered up the survivors and took them to the Enchanted Forest. Nobody else could hear the trees though. Years later, the Enchanted forst became less of a town and more of a kingdom. Since Kenneth Roberts nobody else has heard the trees yet but Samual W. Davis, the towns greatest oracle back in his day, said that in a year of darkness and shadow and Open Eared will come and save the town from death and sadness.
