Suddenly, Slytherin isn’t sticking up only for their own, but for the one lone Hufflepuff who never knew what it was like to have a family.
After all, she was the goddaughter to the two most powerful people on the dark side; Lord Voldemort and Bellatrix Lestrange.

Nobody in Slytherin says anything to Lyra about her making the front page. The Gryffindor’s, however, make fun of her. They called her a whore and a Malfoy Bastard.
Lyra tried not to let it bother her but it did. If Snape or any Slytherin prefects caught them then they were severely punished.
Harry Potter and Ron Weasley hadn’t even looked at her since the news got out. They plain out ignored her now. She tried not to let it hurt but they were the only ones really nice to her before.
On the other hand, Slytherin seemed to have adopted her. She was called the ‘Slytherpuff’. Snape had given her the password to the Slytherin common room. When her robes were ruined by a prank, she was given an extra set of Draco’s Slytherin robes that she proudly wore. She sat with the Slytherin’s for every meal and got packages with Draco from the elder Malfoy’s.
Felix and Gemma, the Slytherin prefects, practically escorted her everywhere. They were not afraid to punish and deal with unruly students that even looked at her wrong.
Unfortunately, nobody thought about what Lyra being a ward of the Malfoy’s would mean.
Lyra was on her way to eat dinner at the great hall when Goyle stopped her just outside.
“Draco’s in the infirmary,” Goyle tells Lyra when he sees her. “Potter hexed him and he fell down the stairs.”
Lyra paused before she stopped on the way to the great hall. “Okay. I’m going to see him.”
Her stomach dropped at the thought of him being hurt. Goyle moves to follow her but Lyra waves him off. The infirmary was nearby.
She ducks into the infirmary, hoping to avoid Madame Pomfrey. She sees Draco laying on one of the beds, arms wrapped up in bandages.
He stared at the ceiling with suspiciously wet eyes, biting on his lower lip to keep quiet.
“Hi,” Lyra pops up to the edge of the bed. Draco jumps when she appeared, reaching up wipe at his face but his casts stopped him.
“What happened?” Lyra pulled a handkerchief from her pocket and reached out to help him wipe his face. He flushed red at needing her help.
“Potter hexed me,” Draco mumbled, refusing to meet her eyes. “I… I stumbled. I fell down the moving stairs and broke my arms trying to break my fall. I have to have my arms wrapped while the skele-gro works.”
“Did they call your parents?” Lyra questioned, tucking the handkerchief away when she finished.
“It wasn’t bad enough,” Draco mumbled with a scoff.
“Did they at least tell Professor Snape?” Lyra knew that the man was Draco’s godfather.
“I don’t know,” Draco honestly answered with a shrug, wincing at the movement.
“Have you eaten recently?” Lyra asked, taking a seat on the edge of the bed. “Skele-gro takes a while to work.”
“I can’t use my hands,” Draco sighed. “And I’m not about to have anyone feed me like an invalid child.”
Lyra called for a house elf and requested some specific food. Lyra slid a table tray over while the house elf went to fetch it. The elf reappeared and left the food on the tray, leaving with a bow.
“Ly,” Draco scowled in warning and Lyra grins at the nickname.
“Draco,” She parrots back at him, picking up a spoon and scooped a single pea onto it. “Hush. Open.”
Lyra doesn’t get him a chance to reply before she uses her finger to bend the spoon back and flicks the pea at him, giggling when it hits him directly in his forehead. Draco blinks at her in surprise.
“Open,” Lyra laughs as she tossed one in the air and caught it in her mouth. She then flicked the next one at him and he caught it. That was how they ate their vegetables.
Draco had relaxed and soon he didn’t mind that Lyra was helping him to eat. Lyra would eat a bite every few mouthfuls that Draco ate.
The tray was soon empty and Lyra had a house elf take away the tray and tidy up the food that they had spilled while fooling around.
“It itches,” Draco complained as he tried to scratch at his wrapped arms. “And… it hurts.” He admits.
“Budge over,” Lyra tells him as she reaches into her school bag and pulls out a book. Draco scoots over the best he can without his arms, mainly composed of wiggling. Lyra moves to sit next to him, cuddling up with him on the bed. She cracked open the book from the beginning and started to read aloud.
Draco rests his head onto her shoulder, listening to her read the muggle work of fiction. He ended up falling asleep and Lyra grins at him, brushing back his messy hair that got ruined in the fall.
“Sleep well, brother,” Lyra rests her cheek onto the top of his head and continues reading until she too fell asleep.
She woke up slightly when someone stood at the side of the bed. Years of bad foster care taught her to be a light sleeper. Lyra feigned sleep though.
She hears a sigh that is distinctly Snape and relaxes because she knows that Snape will not hurt them.
“Did you tell his parents?” Snape questions quietly to whom Lyra assumes is Pomfrey.
“He’ll be alright in the morning,” Pomfrey argued lightly.
“His parents need to know,” Snape’s voice was slightly tense. “I will floo for them.”
“If you insist,” Pomphrey sighs. “Take the boy with you.”
“I can only assume you mean Miss Aspen, who is female,” Snape drawls with a sneer.
“She wears a boy’s uniform,” Pomfrey bristled at him.
“She is asleep and poses no risk to the rest of Draco,” Snape informs her before he turns and leaves. Pomfrey follows soon after, the clicking of her shoes echoing as she leaves.
Lyra slowly falls back asleep only to be woken up slightly later to soft murmuring and a hand on her head.
“Hello darling,” Narcissa whispers to Lyra when she sees that the girl is awake.
“Hi,” Lyra sleepily burrows further into Draco.
“Have you or Draco eaten recently?” Narcissa inquires, petting Lyra’s head gently. Lyra melts into the touch.
‘We ate dinner,” Lyra confirms, her voice thick with sleep.
Lyra could see Lucius on the other side of the bed, his hand resting on top of Draco’s messy hair.
Narcissa reaches out, pulling the book from Lyra’s limp fingers. She closed it, resting it upon the bedside table before the undoes the tie around Lyra’s neck, pulling it off and folding it, setting it on the table too.
“Do I have to go?” Lyra whispered, too comfy to move from her position wrapped around Draco.
“No,” Narcissa smiled gently. “Sleep, darling.”
Lyra closes her eyes once more and hears Lucius move to the foot of here bed. Her shoes are then being untied. The laces are loosened and pulled from her feet.
Lyra dozes a little longer as Naracissa and Lucius whisper to each other. She’s startled when arms move around her and scoop her up into a cradle.
Her instincts are to fight but she smells a familiar smell.
“Shh,” Lucius’s voice was soft. “It’s alright. It’s only me. I’ve got you.”
Lyra clutches at him. “I thought you said I didn’t have to go.”
“You don’t,” Lucius hushed and she was set back down onto the bed, this time directly onto the sheets instead of the blanket. The blanket she was just laying on is pulled over her and Lyra wiggles to get comfy with Draco again.
She fell asleep once more and slept for longer. She barely woke up when Pomfrey came to check on Draco’s arms. Draco woke up, grumbling at her as the bandages are removed and she tests his arms.
“You’ll be discharged in the morning,” Pomfrey tells him before leaving.
“Did I wake you up?” Draco sleepily mumbled as he turned to snuggle back up to Lyra.
“No,” Lyra shakes her head. “How are your arms feeling?”
“Better,” Draco wiggled his fingers to prove it. “Did you really stay here the whole time?” He questioned incredulously.
“Yup,” Lyra nods.
“Why?” Draco scrunched his face up.
“Because…” Lyra hesitates. “You’re my brother.”
“Really?” Draco whispers with a small smile. “You’re my sister.”
Lyra smiles. She planned on having a word with Harry. He may be ignoring her but she hoped that sharing that Christmas at Hogwarts with him still meant something.
“Go back to sleep,” Lyra tells him.
“Nag, nag, nag,” Draco mumbles as he rests his head back onto her shoulder.
“Shut up, prat,” Lyra murmured as she closed her eyes once more.
