Chapter 2

Ally went back to sleep for a bit longer while Zane stayed up to ponder the events of the night. Needless to say, it did not take very long. After all, anything can happen in a writer's house. Ally dreamed about werewolves and vampires and other scary things. When morning came, neither Ally nor Zane talked much about the night's events, although both of them were thinking about it. Zane wondered whether it had been the right choice to worry about it. "So... about last night...." started Zane, but Ally interjected. "Do you think they're okay? Whoever that crazy author is?" "I don't know," said Zane, "but I hope so. After all, without authors, we wouldn't have books. And books are important." Ally agreed. Her eyes automatically went up to the picture of there parents up on the shelf. They had disappeared a couple of years ago on a world tour after there last book, "Fire on the Prarie". Now it was just Ally and Zane. Luckily, they were old enough to manage on their own. Sadly, their parents had not returned and after two years Ally and Zane did not expect to ever see Andy and Spencer again. "I miss them too," said Zane. "I know that. And I wasn't thinking about them just now. I was thinking about last night," said Ally, completely aware that she hadn't been.
