Chapter Three — The Incomplete Book
Chapter 3
You began to feel accustomed to the howls and headaches. It even began to feel normal. Each morning, you would expect them. One day, (Insert your Head of House) told you to visit Professor Dumbledore after school. Your head immediately filled with thoughts about what he might want you there. After school, you went to Dumbledore's Office, and said "Licorice snaps". The stone gargoyle jumped away, revealing Dumbledore sitting calmly with his back facing you. "Hello Headmaster." You say nervously. "Hello Y/N. You might be wondering why I called you here today, correct?" Not waiting for you to answer, he said "Well, I got the note from Professor Flitwick about you having symptoms of headaches, and hearing howling in the distance, right?" "Yes Headmaster." "I prefer you to call me 'Professor Dumbledore' or just plain old 'Dumbledore'. Enough of my blabbering, I'm sure your already bored, I found something very interesting today." "What was it?" You ask. "What Flitwick said was very, very intriguing, so I decided to do some research. I, myself haven't heard of such things, and went to the library to search. I searched, and searched, and found this one book named 'Long-Lost Myths' and I though it might be of use. I skimmed it, and found a blank page." He allowed his words to sink in. "Yes?" "And I cast a Revealing Charm, and found symptoms described as you had. There were some blank places, which I am positive are the answers." He took out a heavy volume, and handed it to you. You took it, hands shaking, and flipped to the bookmarked page. It was indeed blank. "Aparecium." The aged parchment glowed purple, then showed words, and some places blank. It read: (Places that have "________" are spaces that are incomplete/erased) "The legend of the _______s is not known to most of wizard-kind. Symptoms of being one includes hearing howls of the ________ 's, terrible headaches, and sometimes hallucinating, though not often. Some people think this myth actually may have some truth, but many more do not. Legend has it that they would transform each _________ into ________s. It also says that they were hunted, and believed to be dangerous. So dangerous that even a dragon couldn't beat them in a fight. When their howls are heard by normal people, the ground tremors. Of course, this is only a myth, and very few believe they have actually existed in the world." You take a minute to think, and say, "I think it might have been erased or incomplete. I'm guessing its incomplete because, well, there aren't any eraser marks on it." "Here. Let me see." You hand the Headmaster the book, and he flipped through the other pages. "These are also blank. I think there is some information hidden inside it, though." "Oh, and Professor?" You ask. "Yes Y/N?" "My parents sent me this note, and its also incomplete. I tried sending owls to them to explain, but I got no response." You hand Dumbledore the crumpled parchment. "Ah, I see." He says thoughtfully. "The note was incomplete because of rain-water, I presume?" "Yes." "Hmm... curious, very curious." He muttered. "I'll keep looking at this, and maybe I can find out something. For the meantime, please also do some research." You nod gratefully, and head to the (insert House name) common room.
