Injuries & The Deflating Draught
When injuries take place, local swelling around a joint such as wrists, knees, ankles, & shoulders will be visible. A similar form of edema happens when using the Swelling Solution. When your joint is swollen, the body must work harder, which is why those with heart or lung issues should never take this potion. It is dangerous if ingested because it will entirely close up your airways to breathe. It can also get into your stomach & speed up the swelling.
The Deflating Draught can be used to reverse the effects of the Swelling Solution & to decrease injury swelling. This potion clears the fluid in the tissues & can create a blood rush. A blood rush can lead to being dizzy & an decrease in equilibrium. When swelling lasts for a longer period of time, it can hurt & create discomfort. Swelling of simple injuries can be treated with Deflating Draught. This potion aids in treating blood clots. The Melting Serum is the most effective potion, but the Deflating Draught can do the trick as well. The best way to treat a blood clot is to inject the potion right into the artery or vein. Never inject potions into the body unless a healer recommends it. Researchers theorize that the Deflating Draught can aid in decreasing brain swelling.
