Chapter 9

Murtlaps

Murtlaps are rated is XXX. Murtlap Essence is used to heal wounds such as cuts, boils, scrapes, & wounds by magic (for example, a Black Quill). This method is frequently used in place of the Essence of Dittany. Both pickled & Essence Murtlap minimizes the Fear of the External Physical by adding a layer of protection between you & harm.

Clabberts

Clabberts are from the southern United States & are rated XX. This creature is used as a security system. They have a ruby red blob on their forehead which glows when threatened. Due to the International Statute of Secrecy, clabberts are no longer used.

Dark Artifacts

Jinx-Off ⊱ This kit has three items; a cloak, a hat, & a pair of gloves. This kit protects you from spells by shielding you from harm. The Shielding Charm is used on this product. You can buy this kit at Weasley's Wizard Wheezes.

Fireproof Trousers ⊱ You can buy this at magical clothing stores or from the Ministry of Magic. Some vendors will try to scam you into buying a fake fireproof trouser, so ask to see their certificate from the Ministry of Magic.

Amulets ⊱ Gemstones channel magical energy which can protect the wearer. You can store any magic into the gemstone & use it when needed. Some amulets will work when a spell is cast, while others only need a simple touch to activate its magical energy. To maintain the spell, it will require more magical energy, which can cause magical exhaustion. Amulets are the most common to be sold as a scam.

Fun Facts

⊱ They attack only when being stepped on by humans. When attacking, they try to eat the human flesh of feet.

⊱ Murtlap tentacles are used to defend yourself from minor jinxes by eating them. If you eat a good amount, it will defend yourself from Minor Maledictio. The tentacles will not work for the Tenebrae Maledictio.

⊱ Fireproof trousers protects you from fire creatures such as dragons & fire salamanders.

⊱ Amulets are wearable necklaces that have a gemstone with a gold or silver chain.
