Chapter 18

O17 (Variant of O16, “Gateway with serpents)
n/a || Serpent Passage
Magical Uses, Meanings, Pairings: Denotes presence of mummy from the fifth dynasty, many of whom were catalogued as ancient Egyptian Parselmouths.
O32 (Gateway)
n/a || Door, Gateway
Magical Uses, Meanings, Pairings: The original interpretation isn’t wrong, but when it’s magically enchanted… Destroy it straight away.
Anecdotes/Comments: Found one of these at Saqqara, which we had some troubles with. We lost half of our original party and by the time Archie and I and this one other bloke made it out, we found out it had been nearly a week. They’d sent a second team in after 24 hours but no one else ever made it out. Later that month it was categorized as Level 1 and closed off.
O35 (Combo of O34 and D54, “Door bolt” and “Legs walking”, respectively)
s || Go, Perish, Bring
Magical Uses, Meanings, Pairings: Used to enchant inanimate objects so they move. Different from animation enchantments used on animal, human and semi-human figures.
O37 (Falling wall)
n/a || Overthrown, Tilt
Magical Uses, Meanings, Pairings: Indicates just what you think it does. Some non-structurally integral walls have been enchanted to topple over at the least opportune moments.
O44 (Min emblem)
n/a || Rank, Office
Magical Uses, Meanings, Pairings: Associated with the god of fertility, this glyph can be problematic for groups of workers, depending on the genders and sexual preferences of those involved. Can indicate presence of a spell that acts as a potent aphrodisiac. It is unknown if this was intended to be a curse, or is a spell meant to help the deceased in the Afterlife. Whatever the case, it certainly can be a headache. Archie and I have never run into this problem ourselves, for obvious reasons.
