Lesson Two Study Guide
Chapter 3
Compounds create a substance of two atoms or more. Mixtures have more than two compounds. For example, if you put water & salt together, there are two compounds; H2O & NaCl. It then becomes a mixture. A solution is a mixture, where a solute is the small amount of substance & a solvent is the bigger amount of substance. The solute doesn't have to be scattered evenly, but it needs to have an amount somewhere among it. For example, salt is the solute & water is the solvent. A phase transition is when a phase changes into another phase.
