Chapter 3
The source of your magic
Most of the times wizards and witches pass down their magical abilities to their kids, but there are exceptions.
Squib —> a child of magical parents but has no magical ability.
Muggle-born —> a witch or wizard with muggle parents.
Pure-bloods —> no muggles in their bloodline.
Half-blood —> the child of one muggle parent and one magical parent.
Spellcasting components
A breakdown of what is needed to perform a spell; incantation, wand movement, willpower and concentration.
Incantation —> the words that must be spoken correctly to complete the spell. Really advanced witches or wizards can cast spells without speaking.
Wand movement —> the shape you travel with your wand. It takes a rare born ability to cast a spell without a wand movement.
Willpower —> the magical strength and focus, the most difficult component.
Concentration —> centering your mind on the magic. It includes the target and what you want to do.
Hover Charm
Incantation: Levioso (lev-ee-O-so)
Wand Movement: Inward spiral then upward flick
Willpower: Moderate; determines how heavy of an object can be lifted.
Concentration: None
One of the most basic spells is the levitation
Charm, but before were you by to look at some imitations.
First is the hover charm, to cast this you need to touch the object. You can only move the object up or down
Rocket Charm
Incantation: Alarte Ascendare (A-lar-tay a-SEN-day-ray)
Wand Movement: Quick swish
Willpower: High; determines how high the object will ascend before falling
Concentration: None
With this charm you can only propel an object straight into the air and back. The height is somewhat controllable.
Floating Charm
Incantation: Fluito (floo-EE-toe)
Wand Movement: Jab then upward flick
Willpower: High to very high depending on weight and distance of target
Concentration: Moderate; should be maintained on target object
With this spell you could move an object up or down, but only a few feet.
The Levitation Charm
Incantation: Wingardium Leviosa (win-GAR-dee-um levi-O-sa)
Wand Movement: Swish and flick
Willpower: Low; Visualize your energy coming from your body and lifting the object.
Concentration: Moderate; on the thing you want to levitate
This charm was invented by Jarleth Hobart. You can control horizontal and vertical movements with less restrictions. You are able to lift up humans but you would have to be an absolute professional.
