Welcome to Magical Art 701!

Let's get crafty, artists! In our second year of the course, we will spend even more time exploring different art mediums. By the end of this year, you will have a great foundational understanding of magical art - which will serve you well if you plan to pursue a career in the field after Hogwarts.

I have a question about the lesson or assignment. What do I do?
Feel free to send me, Professor Rosenquist, an owl! I am always happy to answer any questions you may have. Remember to keep your inquiries respectful and that it is always better to ask any questions you may have before you submit your assignment.

Are the practical assignments required?
Due to the nature of this being a N.E.W.T. level course, yes, the practical assignments (otherwise known as Project Hour assignments) are required. There are written options for these assignments, however, you would need to complete the practical options if you would like to turn in the Portfolio Submission extra credit assignment at the end of the course.

Do I need to have artistic talent to take this course?
Absolutely not! We grade on effort and how you addressed the prompt, not your artistic talent. If you have an idea of how to approach a particular assignment and are not sure if it would work, feel free to owl me, Professor Rosenquist. This is a course where we encourage you to be creative and push the boundaries.

What do I do if I believe my assignment was graded in error?
If you believe there was a mistake made in the grading of your assignment, or you have a question about your assignment after getting your grades back, you may reach out to me, Professor Rosenquist, with your grade ID. You can find your grade ID in your gradebook via the button under the course description.

When will my assignment be graded?
As you progress into the upper years at HiH, there is less support for professors in upper level courses. In the case of this course, there are no PAs in this year. Please be patient with me as I make my way through the queues. Assignments are anonymous and I prioritize them in the order that they are submitted. If your assignment has not moved places in the queue at all after a couple of weeks, you may owl me, Professor Rosenquist, to look into it.

Join us over at the Discordian Castle!

It’s a bright new year at Hogwarts and, for some students, it’s their last year before heading out into the great unknown of the wizarding world. The halls are full of students bustling around and catching up with their peers while heading to class. It’s a normal sight to see&hell…
As students approached the Magical Art classroom, they could hear a faint whistling coming from inside. Upon walking in, not only were they greeted with the sight of Professor Rosenquist whistling while decorating the room with what seemed to be brooms, Quidditch balls, cauldrons, and the like, but…
It was a lovely day at Hogwarts. The sun was shining, the giant squid in the lake was hopefully happy, and the library was littered with students studying for their N.E.W.T.s. Some of those students stressfully flipping through texts looked relieved as the clock tolled, signaling the next hour, as …
It was only a few minutes before that day’s session of Magical Art was scheduled to begin. Although the majority of students were already seated in the classroom, a small group of friends were just then leaving the Kitchens and darting up the Grand Staircase as fast as they possibly could. Ri…
It was another week, another day at Hogwarts, where some of the more artistically inclined students met together in the fifth floor Magical Art classroom. Although it was a little bit before class, some of the early bird students filed into the classroom, only to be greeted with the sight of their …
"What do you call an owl that can speak to packages?” “Um, I’m not sure,” replied a confused Third Year Gryffindor who was staring at the overly excited gargoyle in front of him. “How could you not know? The answer’s right there. It’s a parcel tongue,&rdq…
It was another week as students filed into the Magical Art classroom. The classroom didn’t seem to have any sort of decoration coinciding with this week’s topic as it had all year. More noticeably, their professor was not here yet, though it was completely possible that she might have b…
It was a rather chilly day at Hogwarts. Students were huddled in their house-colored scarves as they rushed their way to class through the snow. There had been a sudden drop in temperature, and no one in the castle seemed to have predicted the wintery weather – aside from Peeves, but of cours…
It was a busy day in the halls of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Though, to be fair, when is the end of the school year not busy? As a bell chime indicates the next hour, Seventh Years, ready for their last Magical Art lecture of the year, hear an ongoing conversation as they approach …
Time to get even more hands on with art and its roles in the wizarding world! Prepare to explore the fields of sculpture, pottery, jewelry making, and more in this second year of Magical Art!
