Welcome to Magical Art 601!
Hello artists! I am Professor Rosenquist and together we will explore the intriguing wonders of visual art in the wizarding world. This year will focus on the fundamentals of art, art history, and a comprehensive look at different art mediums. Before we start, let's go over a bit of housekeeping.
I have a question about the lesson or assignment. What do I do?
Feel free to send any of our PAs an owl! My team and I are always happy to answer any questions you may have. The list of PAs can be found on the right side of the screen. Remember to keep your inquiries respectful and that it is always better to ask any questions you may have before you submit your assignment.
Are the practical assignments required?
Due to the nature of this being a N.E.W.T. level course, yes, the practical assignments (otherwise known as Project Hour assignments) are required. There are written options for these assignments, however, you would need to complete the practical options if you would like to turn in the Portfolio Submission extra credit assignment at the end of the course.
Do I need to have artistic talent to take this course?
Absolutely not! We grade on effort and how you addressed the prompt, not your artistic talent. If you have an idea of how to approach a particular assignment and are not sure if it would work, feel free to owl me, Professor Rosenquist, or my Head Student, Leah Miller. This is a course where we encourage you to be creative and push the boundaries.
What do I do if I believe my assignment was graded in error?
If you believe there was a mistake made in the grading of your assignment, or you have a question about your assignment after getting your grades back, you may reach out to either Professor Rosenquist or the Head Student, Leah Miller, with your grade ID.
When will my assignment be graded?
Elective courses do get less volume of assignments than core courses, and this equates in a smaller PA team. Our team is comprised of volunteers who also have real-world obligations that do take priority over HiH. Assignments are anonymous and we prioritize them in the order that they are submitted. If your assignment has not moved places in the queue at all after a couple of weeks, you may owl Professor Rosenquist or Leah Miller to look into it.
