Araxie Yearwood

Student

I’m Araxie Yearwood, and this is my first year at Hogwarts. I grew up in a wandmaker’s house by the sea with many unanswered questions about my mother.

Backstory

Araxie Yearwood grew up on the edge of the quiet wizarding village of Tinworth in Cornwall, raised by her father, Silas Yearwood, a reclusive wandmaker and single parent. Her mother, Elira Greaves, was a brilliant Muggle-born witch who mysteriously vanished during a research expedition for the Department of Mysteries when Araxie was just a baby. No one knows what happened to Elira—only that she disappeared without a trace, her fate a lingering question mark over Araxie’s life.

Silas, once a cheerful and gifted craftsman, turned inward after Elira’s disappearance, pouring his grief into his work. His workshop—filled with rare wand woods, strange cores, and enchanted carving tools—became Araxie’s playground. While other children learned to fly brooms or play Gobstones, Araxie listened to the quiet hum of magic in wand cores and learned the old woods by scent and grain. She spent hours thumbing through her father’s collection of enchanted books and forgotten scrolls, developing a curiosity far sharper than most children her age.

Because of this sheltered upbringing, Araxie is thoughtful, observant, and sometimes slow to trust—but beneath her quiet surface burns a sharp wit and fierce determination. She has her mother’s knack for puzzles and her father’s patience, along with an unusual gift: strange dreams filled with symbols and fragments of voices, which she’s always felt might be tied to her mother’s fate.

Her Hogwarts letter arrived on a gray, sea-swept morning, fluttering through the letterbox like a whispered promise. Silas, though nervous, smiled with quiet pride and gave her an old pendant of her mother’s—a small charm shaped like an hourglass filled with silver sand—as a parting gift.

Araxie boarded the Hogwarts Express knowing two things: she was different, and the mystery of her mother’s disappearance might somehow follow her to Hogwarts. But she was ready—for magic lessons, new friends (or rivals), and perhaps the beginning of a secret destiny that even she doesn’t fully understand.
