Backstory

I was brought up by two muggle-born parents, so I've experienced a healthy mix of wizard and muggle culture. Up until I was admitted to Hogwarts, I went to muggle school; my parents insisted it was important for me to learn subjects like math and science and muggle history, and I agree. There's such a difference between education for muggles and education for wizards. I plan to spend my summers continuing my muggle education. When I got my Hogwarts letter, I was excited and nervous and sad at the same time. I've always been fascinated with magic and how it all works, but this is a whole new environment-- a whole new world. I also have to leave my muggle best friends behind without being able to tell them why. I've had to lie; I told them that I was going to a different school that had a better mathematics program (my favorite muggle subject.) As much as I have enjoyed muggle school, I have to realize I am not a muggle, I am a witch. Sooner or later, I have to fully integrate into wizard society. Like I said, I was raised by two muggle-born wizards, so I've experienced both, but this is my first time fully submerged in the wizarding world. My mom was a Hufflepuff and my dad was a Ravenclaw, so there's always been a subtle house rivalry in the house and I was excited to find out what house in which I was to be placed. Unsurprisingly, however, I was chosen to be in Ravenclaw. (When my sister comes, my money is on Hufflepuff for her, so that will be funny, more fodder for the friendly rivalry). Education is always something I have enjoyed and I place a lot of my self worth on my intelligence and academic performance. It didn't take the hat too long to decide. I aspire to be the seeker for the Ravenclaw team. For a house full of self identifying nerds, I am pretty atheltic. My closest friend right now is a muggle-born wizard named Courtney, also a Ravenclaw. We were able to bond over our experiences with muggle culture and our love of academics. I don't know what I want to be when I grow up, all I know is that I want to take my education as far as I can.
