Backstory
My name is Rory, and I grew up in Herzliya, Israel. I learned English in school, but I speak Hebrew with family and at home. The truth is, I accidentally used magic while on a vacation in the United Kingdom. A lot happened after that I don't remember well, since I was only 10, but I ended up invited to attend Hogwarts! I had to learn as much English as possible after that. Both of my parents are muggles, and they still live in our apartment back in Israel. Hogwarts is amazing, and learning about the qualities of an excellent wix has been incredible. My parents know of magic now, but not of my own secret.
As I said before, I am neither witch nor wizard, just a wix. Wix is the gender-neutral word for a magic-user, and since I don't identify as either a boy or girl, it's the word I prefer. Additionally, a group of witches and wizards is called a group of wixes, while the noun for a magical community is wixen. And Hogwarts is the greatest wixen I could ask for!
Some more of my story: My parent's names are Moishe and Sarah Shapiro, and I have an older brother named Levi. Levi doesn't have magic, like my parents, and attends high school right now. We have a small dog named Sheleg (this means snow, in Hebrew) and he was only a puppy when I left. I visit home for holidays and am always writing to them. I have one friend there, a girl my age named Shira. My parents share my letters with her and she often responds as well. It takes a long while for my letters to reach them, of course, but it's all worth it.
