Backstory

Everyone can see something is wrong with me. I'm a Ravenclaw that knows nothing, a French Canadian studying at Hogwarts, a 20 year old muggleborn witch who just starting her first year. I sit in my classes with children half my age and, honestly, it's embarassing. You see, I didn't receive my letter at 11. No one knows why and how it happened, but it did. I was always interested in botanics, would make "potions" out of whatever we had in our kitchen as a child and was fascinated by magical creatures, mythology and fantasy books during my teenage years. However, nothing extraordinary happened around me. No flying objects, no mysterious incidents to people I hate, no talking to animals... Nothing, nada, rien, until about a month ago. I got into a car accident. Broke my left arm and hit my head pretty hard too, but I was otherwise ok. I realised something was wrong when my broken arm healed completely in two days. This feeling was confirmed when my room's lightbulb exploded when I got frustrated during a fight with my mother. That's when I attracted the attention of the magical authorities. Apparently, my powers stayed dormant all these years and it took, for an unknown reason, the brain trauma caused by my accident for them to manifest. I've been told my case puzzled the entire Wizardiing World and that many schools all around the world wanted to offer me a full ride scholarship, probably to study me or something like that. After reading books after books on my new reality, I decided to enroll at Hogwarts, mainly because of its history and importance in the fight against He-who-must-not-be-named. It also gives me the opportunity to travel a bit and to practice my English boarding school style. Classes only started yesterday, but I can tell I'll love it here! I just hope I'll have the opportunity to interact with people my age during my free time. The headmistress told me someone from the Ministry will tutor me and that I will be allowed to take more advanced classes if I do well. I might be able to graduate early, which would be awesome. I sure hope I won't suffer too much because of my late blooming...
