Backstory

Brett, an american child born to both witch & wizard parents, though not pure-blood, unusually received two letters of acceptance to both Ilvermorny & Hogwarts. After much deliberation, he chose to attend the prestigious Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This was due partly to his mother's family being a direct descendent of Salazar Slytherin. When he got to the UK, he had a tough time at Ollivander's, they could not find the right wand for him. None of them seemed to choose him, he had to come back three days in a row, and finally on the third day Ollivander figured out why. His nature was not that of Unicorn Hair, Phoenix Feather, or Dragon Heartstring. So Ollivander presented a single wand to him on the counter when he arrived on the third day. This is the only wand I created with this core, the only wizard known to be able to lure these creatures took that knowledge with him to the grave. It was a 12.5" ivory colored Aspen wood wand with a White River Monster Spine core. As soon as Brett picked it up the air of the shop smelled of the fresh, salty air of the sea and the sound of waves crashing emitted from the drawers all throughout the shop.

During Brett's first year at Hogwarts, he was sorted into the Slytherin house before the sorting hat even rested upon his head. During his time at Hogwarts he excelled in many courses including Herbology, Care of Magical Creatuers, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and he even had an uncanny affinity for Divination. During one DADA class, much to everyone's surprise as a Slytherin, he was able to produce a full corporeal Patronus that took the form of the mighty Kraken. During his time at Hogwarts a few other magical abilities showed up: he was blessed with same gift as Slytherin himself, Parseltongue, he was also an animagus and was able to take the form of a King Cobra, and he had a naturally powerful gift to control Water. He had a core group of friends from across many different houses. They spent lots of their time relaxing by the lake or at the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade. His curious and adventuresome nature got him into a lot of trouble during his time at Hogwarts, by exploring dangerous parts of the castle, venturing into the forbidden forest, and diving to the deepest parts of the black lake. He, also, got a detention once for a quite severe curse he put on a particular Gryffindor bully that took the healers weeks to reverse.

He loved to study theoretical magic and in his later years developed his own spells. He developed a spell that mimicked the effects of gillyweed, but could last indefinitely. After Hogwarts, he went on to study further as an apprentice under many of the brilliant professors at Ilvermorny continuing his learning of theoretical & elemental magic. During his fourth year of apprenticeship he was called back to the UK by the Ministry of Magic, to start a new department of nature magic within the newly created Elemental Chamber of the Department of Mysteries and became an Unspeakable. Due to the secretive nature of unspeakable work, not much is known of his work after that, but it is said he learnt and discovered very powerful ancient magic. Through his studies and practice many believe he is the greatest wizard of his time, some even think he rivals Merlin himself.

He later married a Ravenclaw graduate, Austin, who progressed through Hogwarts a few years after him. He met Austin while he was working as an apprentice at Ilvermorny. They currently live in Puerto Rico, USA.  Austin works for the MACUSA as an Auror, and they recently adopted a son.
