Backstory

When I received my Hogwarts acception letter, my grandparents weren't exactly ecstatic. They didn't understand the world of magic, nor were they truly accepting. Magic was odd, scary, terrifying. I was a freak, a monster. They refused to take me to Diagon Ally, or "wherever that freak show is condoned." So, I moved out. My parents took me under their wing, I was finally able to express myself and my witch-like powers. My step mom was a muggle, which I didn't mind much. She didn't take too much of a liking to magic, but she wasn't opposed. My father, however, was a well-trained wizard. He told me stories of how he was sorted into Gryffindor his first year and how ecstatic he was. He attended Hogwarts at the same time as Lucius Malfoy, a Slytherin. My father often played tricks on Malfoy, which caused for a lifelong feud between the two, and even moreso between Gryffindor and Slytherin. My aunt was a Slytherin, though, so he supposed "slytherin wasn't ALL bad." He advised me to steer mostly clear of them. He was close friends with Arthur Weasley, a Gryffindor. They found their alike hair color to be fascinating and often compared their commonly pale, sunburn-prone skin. "He married this outgoing, level-headed girl. Her name's Molly. Quite a fit for him, I'd say." He gave me notice that I would be in first year with their son, Ronald. The following Saturday, we used floo powder to travel to Diagon Ally. It was an odd place. He led me to Ollivander's, where I met an elderly man, who seemed rather kind. He seemed as though he had seen something magnificent. He handed me a wand that was identical to my father's, Beech wood with a unicorn hair core, 12 ¼" and unbending flexibility. As a gripped the wand and sent it for a swish in the air, a lamp in the shop broke. I jumped and quickly placed the wand on the counter. "So sorry! I didn't know-" Ollivander stopped me. "No worries! The wand chooses the wizard, or witch, after all!" We went through many different wands, with all whom held negative effects. Finally, it seemed as though Ollivander's mind clicked. It skipped to the back of the room and came back, presenting me with a very beautiful wand, Laurel wood with a unicorn hair core, 10" and slightly yielding flexibility. The minute my hand wrapped around the wand, the room began to glow. This was it! We left and gathered a few textbooks from Flourish and Blotts. I decided to purchase a black cat, his name is Voodoo. Once I arrived at Hogwarts, I watched several fellow students being sorted. I began watching the ceiling, bewitched to look like the night sky. I was distracted indefinitely until I heard his name, Draco Malfoy. My head quickly snapped back down to eye the blonde-headed boy as he took the seat underneath the Sorting Hat. "Slytherin!" Of course, I wasn't surprised. Like father, like son. I just knew that I should steer clear of him. Ron Weasley was sorted into Gryffindor, as wlel as Hermione Granger, Dean Thomas, Sheamus Finnigan, and.... Harry Potter? Everyone made quite a fuss about him. Sure, I had heard the stories about He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named and whatever else. The Chosen One, The Boy Who Lived. The killing curse could've killed any single wizard, witch, or muggle. But it wasn't him, he never failed, he-
"Olive Reed!" My eyes widened as Professor McGonagall called my name. I slowly approached the stage and sat in the cold chair. What would happen if I were sorted into Slytherin? I couldn't bear something like that. Surely not. What else? Gryffindor? Like my father? Surely that could be the only fit.
"Better be..... Hufflepuff!"
I was a Hufflepuff. A Huffle-what?
