Backstory

During the dark times my family escaped to the states and I grew up not really knowing about my own magic, with a mother who was a witch and a father who was a muggle (or no maj in America), it was tough to find time to learn about it without fear of being caught. I went to a normal school, had normal friends, but every so often weird things would happen that I couldn’t explain and then we would have to relocate. I started to give up hope of returning home when my mother received a letter, and that’s when everything changed and brought me here. They were saying we could come home and resume our lives in the wizarding community, Harry Potter and his friends had defeated the Dark Lord. I was ecstatic and couldn’t wait to get back home and finally be able to learn about magic and maybe even learn how to control it. As soon as we got back and found a flat to live in, a small envelope came flying in and my heart started fluttering. Could it be? The piece of mail I had been waiting for my entire life? It was, and I finally got to go school supply shopping in diagon alley and take the hogwarts express to see the infamous castle. I was so nervous about being a student a little older than most traditional first years, but there were a few other kids like me who were “misplaced” so they were extended the invitation to make up their school years now. Before we got to dig in to the greatest feast I had ever had, us first years had to be sorted. When it came time that my name was called, I nearly ran with excitement. I sat down and expected an immediate decision but the hat took its time deciding where to put me. In the end, being a bold ginger with a lions heart landed me in gryffindor but the hat said my ambition almost put me in the house of green and silver and my loyalty could have had me in hufflepuff but I trusted his decision and joined my new housemates to celebrate, eager to start this journey.
