Backstory

I was the first witch to be born in my island in centuries. My family always tried to keep my magick a secret and the close minded islanders always saw anything out of the ordinary to be the work of the devil. Nonetheless, in the secrecy of my room, I did some small magic tricks: I could make small objects fly and had long conversations with Elizabeth, my snake-pet.
It wasn't until my 11th birthday that I became aware of the existence of Hogwarts - a letter for Miss S. Winters, The South High Room, 24A, Santo António, Azores, arrived on the same day. My mum was extremely happy with the present opportunity, whereas my dad was still in shock because he couldn't understand how these people that had never contacted us before got to know where we were.
And so I left home - our neighbors and friends being told I was enrolling some posh boarding school in the High Lands - with the excitement of beginning a new adventure!
